African brass round bead "Sikasso", 16mm
African brass round bead in wire design. Handmade brass beads called "Lost wax beads". The completed beeswax mould is covered with six layers of fine charcoal dust to preserve the detail and then coated with clay. When the mould has dried it is heated and the wax melts and runs out. Molten brass is then poured into the mould.African bead designer give these beads the special well known charme. 2mm threadhole allows to wear these beads with leathercords up to 2mm Ø. it is possible to drill the threadhole larger for using bigger jewelry cords. These african beads are produced under the Fair Trade license, to help african art bead designers to grow on in their business.
